Biography
Geoffrey Foot was a British film editor. Born in Putney, London, he began his career at Ealing Studios in the camera department and later worked as an assistant editor. He became a full editor after the Second World War and maintained a long association with director David Lean.
Foot edited The Passionate Friends (1949), Madeleine (1950) and The Sound Barrier (1952) for Lean, as well as Disney productions and international features including The Long Ships (1964) and Genghis Khan (1965). In 1967 he served as supervising editor on the television series The Prisoner, receiving credit on four episodes. He was a co-founder of the Guild of British Film Editors and continued working into the 1980s on films such as The Watcher in the Woods (1980).
Foot died in London on 9 September 2010.
