Biography
Geoffrey Hutchings (8 June 1939 – 1 July 2010) was an English stage, film and television actor. Born in Dorchester, Dorset, he attended Hardye's School and studied French and physical education at the University of Birmingham before training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1968.
Hutchings appeared in numerous films including Made in Britain (1983), Clockwise (1986), Henry V (1989), White Hunter, Black Heart (1990), Topsy-Turvy (1999), The Thief Lord (2006) and Nativity! (2009). On television he played John Edwards in the 1996 series Our Friends in the North, Bobby Hollamby in Bad Girls (2000–2003) and Mel Harvey in Benidorm (from 2008). He received Olivier Awards for comedy performances in stage productions.
He also had roles in series such as Midsomer Murders and Casualty.
