Biography
Georg Krause (15 April 1901 – 3 January 1986) was a German cinematographer. Born in Berlin, he began working in the film industry in the 1920s and became a chief cinematographer with the advent of sound films. He photographed more than 130 film and television productions between 1923 and 1967.
Krause is known for his work on Stanley Kubrick's Paths of Glory (1957), credited as George Krause, and on Horrors of Spider Island (1960). Other credits include Man on a Tightrope (1953), The Devil Strikes at Night (1957) and several entries in the 08/15 trilogy. He also co-directed the 1948 comedy Unser Mittwochabend. In 1958 he received the Filmband in Gold for his cinematography on The Devil Strikes at Night.
