Biography
George Bowers was an American film editor, director and producer. Born in the Bronx, New York, he began his career as an assistant editor at ABC immediately after high school, later working under mentor Hugh Robertson at Byro Productions following military service. His first feature editing credit came in 1970, and he went on to edit nearly thirty films over four decades.
Bowers frequently collaborated with directors Penny Marshall and Joseph Ruben. His editing credits include A League of Their Own (1992), The Stepfather (1987), Sleeping with the Enemy (1991), Money Train (1995), From Hell (2001) and Walking Tall (2004). He also directed My Tutor (1983) and Private Resort (1985). Bowers died in Los Angeles on 18 August 2012.
