Biography
George Coe (born George Julian Cohen) was an American actor. He appeared on stage from the late 1950s and had roles in the original Broadway productions of What Makes Sammy Run?, Mame, Company and On the Twentieth Century. He co-directed, co-produced and starred in the 1968 short film De Düva: The Dove, for which he received an Academy Award nomination.
Coe was a member of the original cast of Saturday Night Live in 1975, appearing in the premiere episode and several others that season. His film roles include Claude Axhelm in The Stepford Wives (1975) and Jim O'Connor in Kramer vs. Kramer (1979). He voiced Woodhouse in the animated series Archer and had guest roles in series such as Grey's Anatomy, Two and a Half Men and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Coe died on 18 July 2015 in Santa Monica, California.
