Biography
George E. Diskant (22 February 1907 – 22 February 1965) was an American cinematographer. After working as an assistant cameraman on films in the early 1930s, he advanced to director of photography. His early credits include Anthony Mann's Desperate (1947).
Diskant is known for his work on several film noirs, including They Live by Night (1949), The Racket (1951), On Dangerous Ground (1952), The Narrow Margin (1952), Beware, My Lovely (1952) and Kansas City Confidential (1952). Later in his career he worked extensively in television on series such as Playhouse 90 and The Rifleman, receiving three Primetime Emmy nominations for cinematography.
