Biography
George MacDonald Fraser was a British author and screenwriter. He is best known for the Flashman series of historical novels and for his work on several film screenplays.
Born in Carlisle in 1925, Fraser served in the British Army during the Second World War and later worked as a journalist, becoming deputy editor of the Glasgow Herald. He began writing fiction in the late 1960s and produced eleven Flashman novels as well as screenplays, including those for The Three Musketeers (1973), The Four Musketeers (1974), The Prince and the Pauper (1977), Octopussy (1983), Red Sonja (1985) and The Return of the Musketeers (1989).
He was appointed OBE in 1999 and died on the Isle of Man in 2008.
