Biography
George Marion Jr. was an American screenwriter, lyricist and librettist. Born in Boston on 30 August 1899, he was the son of actor and director George F. Marion. He began his career writing intertitles for silent films in the 1920s before moving into screenplays and dialogue for early sound pictures.
He contributed to numerous Hollywood films, including the screenplays for Love Me Tonight (1932) and The Gay Divorcee (1934). He also wrote for It (1927) and received an Academy Award nomination for title writing.
Marion later wrote books and lyrics for Broadway musicals such as Too Many Girls (1939) and Early to Bed (1943). He died in New York on 25 February 1968.
