Biography
George Pastell, born Georgiou Pastellides, was a Cypriot actor in British films and television. He trained at the National Theatre of Greece and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after brief work in banking.
He made his film debut in Give Us This Day (1949), credited as Nino Pastellides. Pastell appeared in Hammer Films productions including The Mummy (1959) as Mehemet Bey and The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb (1964) as Hashmi Bey. Other film roles include the Train Conductor in From Russia with Love (1963), Tiger Bay (1959) and The Moon-Spinners (1964). On television he played Eric Klieg in Doctor Who (1968) and appeared in The Avengers, The Saint and Danger Man.
He was married to Gloria George from 1958.
