Biography
Gerardo Naranjo is a Mexican director, writer and producer. He studied at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and later earned a master's degree in directing at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles.
His feature debut Drama/Mex (2006) premiered at Cannes' Semaine de la Critique. He followed it with I'm Gonna Explode (2008) and Miss Bala (2011), on which he also wrote the screenplay. Naranjo has directed episodes of the television series The Bridge (2013), Fear the Walking Dead (2016) and Narcos (2016). His later feature Kokoloko (2020) was written and directed by him.
