Biography
Gerardo Taracena (27 March 1970 – 31 January 2026) was a Mexican actor and dancer. He was born in Mexico City and studied dramatic arts at the University Center of Theater of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He performed in theatre and dance festivals across Latin America from the early 1990s and appeared in more than thirty stage works.
Taracena's film roles include Middle Eye in Apocalypto (2006), an executive adjutant in Man on Fire (2004), Horacio in Sin Nombre (2009) and El Alacrán in Sound of Freedom (2023). He played Pablo Acosta in the Netflix series Narcos: Mexico (2018) and appeared in The Mexican (2001) and Get the Gringo (2012). He received a Silver Ariel Award for best supporting actor for The Violin (2005) and an Imagen Award for Apocalypto.
