Biography

Gerda Nicolson was an Australian actress. Born Gerda Maureen Nicolson on 11 November 1936 in Hobart, Tasmania, she died on 12 June 1992 in Melbourne, Victoria, aged 55.

She appeared as Rose Hamilton in the film Gallipoli (1981). Other film credits include Next of Kin (1982) and Bangkok Hilton (1989). On television she had regular roles in the soap opera Bellbird, the police series Bluey (1976–1977) and, most prominently, as Governor Ann Reynolds in Prisoner (1983–1986). She also appeared in Neighbours.

Nicolson trained in architecture before turning to acting. She performed with the Melbourne Theatre Company and maintained an active stage career alongside her screen work. She was married to Julius Szappanos from 1966 until her death.
