Biography
Gerry Blattner (born Gerard L. Blattner) was a British film producer and production executive. The son of film producer and inventor Ludwig Blattner, he entered the industry in the 1930s, working as production supervisor on My Lucky Star (1933) and production manager on The Edge of the World (1937).
By the 1950s he oversaw or produced numerous Warner Bros. films made in the United Kingdom and Europe, including Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N. (1951), Where's Charley? (1952) and Fanny (1961). He is best known as producer of The Sundowners (1960), directed by Fred Zinnemann. In the mid-1970s his company, Gerry Blattner Productions, was involved in the BBC television adaptation of I, Claudius (1976).
