Biography
Gerry Davis was a British television writer and story editor. He served as story editor on Doctor Who (1963) from 1966 to 1967, during which he co-created the Cybermen with scientific adviser Kit Pedler and introduced the companion Jamie McCrimmon. He also wrote episodes including The Tenth Planet (1966, with Pedler), The Highlanders (1966) and The Tomb of the Cybermen (1967, with Pedler).
Davis returned to Doctor Who in 1975 to write the original script for Revenge of the Cybermen. He adapted several of his scripts as Target Books novelisations. With Pedler he co-created the ecological series Doomwatch (1970–1972). His other screen credits include episodes of United! and Coronation Street, and the screenplay for the feature film The Final Countdown (1980).
Davis was born Gerald Davis on 23 February 1930 and died on 31 August 1991.
