Biography
Gianluigi Braschi was an Italian film producer. Born in Cesena, he was the younger brother of actress Nicoletta Braschi and brother-in-law of director and actor Roberto Benigni.
He began his career as a production secretary on Johnny Stecchino (1991). In 1994 he co-founded the production company Melampo Cinematografica with his sister and Benigni. Braschi co-produced Life Is Beautiful (1997) with Elda Ferri; the film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture, and he and Ferri won the David di Donatello for Best Producer. He also produced or associate-produced The Monster (1994), Pinocchio (2002) and The Tiger and the Snow (2005).
Braschi died in Milan on 23 October 2008, aged 45, after a long illness.
