Biography
Gillian L. Hutshing is an American film and television editor. She has worked on more than 65 titles, including feature films, documentaries and television content. Her credits include FernGully: The Last Rainforest (1992), Hard Rain (1998), Squanto: A Warrior's Tale (1994) and The Kill Room (2023).
Hutshing began her career as an apprentice editor on a short film by John Cassavetes. She joined the Motion Picture Editors Guild after working on Haunted Honeymoon (1986). She has collaborated with directors including Ridley Scott and Ben Affleck, and served as editor on Blade Runner: The Final Cut and The Town (2010). Her work on The Divide (2018) received 23 festival awards. She became a member of the American Cinema Editors in 2022.
Hutshing is also the author and illustrator of the children's book Sparky the Wonderfish. She was raised in La Jolla, California, graduated from the University of California, Davis, and is based in Los Angeles.
