Biography
Giorgio Colangeli is an Italian stage, television and film actor. Born on 14 December 1949 in Rome, he graduated in nuclear physics before beginning a stage career in the 1970s.
After early minor roles, his breakthrough came in 2006 as Luigi Sparti in Alessandro Angelini's L'aria salata (also known as Salty Air), for which he received the David di Donatello for best supporting actor and the best actor award at the first Rome Film Festival. He won a Nastro d'Argento for best actor in a short film for his performance in La decima onda (2012).
Colangeli is known for roles including Salvo Lima in Il Divo (2008), Sor Ottorino in There's Still Tomorrow (2023) and Cardinal Franco Merola in Immaculate (2024). He has also appeared in numerous other films and television series, and has performed in theatre productions such as an Italian adaptation of The Two Popes.
