Biography
Giselda Volodi, also credited as Giselda Mazzantini, is an Italian actress, playwright and theatre director. She was born on 28 September 1959 in Tangier, Morocco, the daughter of writer Carlo Mazzantini and painter Anne Donnelly, and the sister of writer Margaret Mazzantini. She trained as an actor at the Studio Fersen – Scuola Internazionale dell'Attore in Rome and studied with international teachers including those from the GITIS in Moscow and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
Volodi made her film debut in Hudson Hawk (1991). Her screen credits include Bread and Tulips (2000), Ocean's Twelve (2004), The Consequences of Love (2004), Agata and the Storm (2004) – for which she received a David di Donatello nomination for Best Supporting Actress – Miracle at St. Anna (2008), The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) and Tale of Tales (2015). On television she is known for playing Professor Boschi in the Rai series L'allieva (2016–2020).
