Biography
Gleb Troyanski (Глеб Александрович Троянский) was a Soviet cinematographer. Born on 8 September 1903 in Saint Petersburg, he graduated from the operator department of the State Technicum of Cinematography and began working in film in the late 1920s.
He contributed to the cinematography of Dziga Vertov's Man with a Movie Camera (1929). Troyanski worked on both narrative and documentary films, including Dva druga, model i podruga (1927), Happiness (1935), In the Sands of Central Asia (1943) and The White Fang (1946). He later specialised in popular-science films and received two Stalin Prizes of the second degree.
Troyanski died on 7 December 1961 in Moscow.
