Biography
Glenn Greenwald is an American journalist, author and lawyer. He was born on 6 March 1967 in New York. In 1996 he founded a law firm specialising in First Amendment litigation before turning to blogging on national security issues in 2005.
Greenwald became a prominent critic of US foreign policy, particularly the Iraq War and surveillance practices. In 2013 he reported on documents leaked by Edward Snowden. He co-founded the online publication The Intercept in 2014 and edited it until his resignation in 2020; he has since published on Substack.
He appears as himself in the 2014 documentary Citizenfour, which covers the initial meetings with Snowden in Hong Kong. Greenwald is also credited in other documentaries, including Kim Dotcom: Caught in the Web (2017).
