Biography
Glyn Jones was a South African actor, writer and director. Born in Durban on 27 April 1931, he toured with the National Theatre Company in South Africa before moving to London, where he worked for The Sunday Times and began writing plays.
Jones wrote the 1965 Doctor Who serial The Space Museum. He later appeared as Krans in the 1975 serial The Sontaran Experiment, making him the first person to both write and act in the series. He was script editor and a writer on the children's series Here Come the Double Deckers! (1970–71) and wrote the screenplay for the 1965 documentary film A King's Story.
His other work included stage plays produced in Britain and the United States, novels in the Thornton King series, and the 2008 autobiography No Official Umbrella. Jones died at his home in Vamos, Crete, on 2 April 2014.
