Biography
Goran Bregović is a composer and musician from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Born on 22 March 1950 in Sarajevo, he began his career in local rock bands before founding Bijelo Dugme in 1974, one of the most successful groups in the former Yugoslavia.
After the band split, he turned to film scoring and solo projects. His scores for Emir Kusturica’s films include Time of the Gypsies (1988), Arizona Dream (1993) and Underground (1995). He also composed for Queen Margot (1994), directed by Patrice Chéreau. Bregović performs internationally with his Wedding and Funeral Orchestra, blending Balkan folk traditions with rock and brass-band elements.
