Biography
Gottfried Huppertz (11 March 1887 – 7 February 1937) was a German composer. He studied at the Conservatory of Music in Cologne and began his career as a singer and actor, debuting in 1910. He later worked in Berlin as an opera singer.
Huppertz composed scores for several silent films directed by Fritz Lang, including Die Nibelungen: Siegfried (1924), Die Nibelungen: Kriemhild's Revenge (1924) and Metropolis (1927). His score for Metropolis is his best-known work. He also wrote music for other films such as Chronicles of the Gray House (1925) and later talkies.
