Biography
Grażyna Szapołowska is a Polish film and theatre actress. She was born on 19 September 1953 in Bydgoszcz. After secondary education she joined the Wrocław Theatre of Pantomime, and in 1977 she graduated from the National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw. From 1977 to 1984 she was a member of the company at the National Theatre, Warsaw.
She is known for her roles in films by Krzysztof Kieślowski, including Magda in A Short Film About Love (1988) and its earlier version as the sixth episode of Dekalog (1989), and Urszula Zyro in No End (1985). She played Telimena in Andrzej Wajda’s Pan Tadeusz (1999), for which she received the Polish Film Award (Orzeł) for best actress. Other credits include Three Colors: White (1994) and 365 Days (2020), in which she appeared as Mama Laury.
