Biography
Gregory Burke is a Scottish playwright and screenwriter. Born in Rosyth, Fife, in 1968, he attended the University of Stirling for two years before dropping out. His early plays include Gagarin Way (2001) and Black Watch (2006), the latter written for the National Theatre of Scotland and winner of the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play.
Burke wrote the screenplay for the film '71 (2014), directed by Yann Demange and starring Jack O'Connell. He also wrote the screenplay for 7 Days in Entebbe (2018). His television credits include One Night in Emergency (2010), Six Four (2023) and Rebus (2024). '71 received a nomination for Best Screenplay at the British Independent Film Awards and won Best Writer Film/TV at the BAFTA Scotland Awards.
