Biography
Gudrun Brost was a Swedish actress. Born Gudrun Lisa Johanna Brost on 6 April 1910 in Malmö, she died on 28 June 1993 in Stockholm. She trained initially as a physiotherapist before entering theatre, making her stage debut in the 1930s and her film debut in 1936.
Brost became known for her work in revue and as a character actress in film and theatre. She collaborated frequently with Ingmar Bergman, appearing in Sawdust and Tinsel (1953) as Alma, The Seventh Seal (1957), The Virgin Spring (1960) as Frida, and Hour of the Wolf (1968) as Gamla Fru von Merkens. She was engaged at Malmö City Theatre from 1954 to 1976 and later at Stockholm City Theatre.
She was married to writer Sven Forssell from 1946 to 1951 and was the mother of actor Johannes Brost. Her final screen role was in the television series Kulla-Gulla (1986).
