Biography

Guillaume Canet is a French actor, film director and screenwriter. Born on 10 April 1973 in Boulogne-Billancourt, he trained at the Cours Florent and began his career in theatre and television before moving into film.

He gained international recognition for his role as Étienne in Danny Boyle's The Beach (2000). Other notable performances include Love Me If You Dare (2003), Joyeux Noël (2005) and La Belle Époque (2019). As a director, his second feature Tell No One (2006) won the César Award for Best Director; he has also directed Little White Lies (2010) and Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom (2023). He was married to actress Diane Kruger from 2001 to 2006.
