Biography
Guillaume Laurant is a French screenwriter and novelist. Born on 22 November 1961 in Saint-Quentin, Aisne, he is an autodidact who began by writing for the theatre after various jobs including as a waiter, courier and delivery driver, and a period of military service.
He first collaborated with director Jean-Pierre Jeunet on additional dialogue for La Cité des enfants perdus (1995). Laurant went on to co-write the screenplays for several of Jeunet's films, including Amélie (2001), A Very Long Engagement (2004), Micmacs (2009) and The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet (2013). He adapted his own novel Happy Hand for the animated film I Lost My Body (2019).
Laurant has received awards for his screenwriting, including a BAFTA and a Prix Lumière for Amélie (2001), as well as an Annie Award for I Lost My Body.
