Biography
Gunn Wållgren was a Swedish actress. Born Gunnel Margaret Haraldsdotter Wållgren in Gothenburg on 16 November 1913, she trained at the Royal Dramatic Theatre's acting school in Stockholm from 1934 to 1937 and made her stage debut there in 1937.
She appeared in numerous stage productions and films from the 1930s onwards. Wållgren is known for her film roles as Sofia in The Brothers Lionheart (1977) and as Helena Ekdahl in Ingmar Bergman's Fanny and Alexander (1982), which was her final screen performance. She also appeared in the 1984 television version of Fanny and Alexander and received a Guldbagge Award for her supporting role in Sally and Freedom (1981).
Wållgren was married to actor and director Hampe Faustman from 1941 to 1949 and to director Per-Axel Branner from 1954 until his death in 1975. She died in Stockholm on 4 June 1983.
