Biography
Günther Maria Halmer was a German actor. He trained at the Otto Falckenberg School of the Performing Arts in Munich from 1967 to 1969 and began his career in theatre at the Münchner Kammerspiele, remaining there until 1974.
His breakthrough came with the television series Münchner Geschichten (1974–1975), in which he played Karl „Tscharlie“ Häusler. He appeared in international films including Gandhi (1982) as Hermann Kallenbach and Sophie's Choice (1982) as Rudolf Höss. In Germany he was known for the title role in the series Anwalt Abel (1988–2001) and numerous other television and film roles. He also supported SOS Children's Villages.
