Biography
H.M. Wynant is an American film and television actor. Born Chaim Weiner on 12 February 1927 in Detroit, Michigan, he began his career in New York theatre after attending Wayne State University. He later changed his name to Haim Winant and then H.M. Wynant at the suggestion of director Samuel Fuller for his film debut as Crazy Wolf in Run of the Arrow (1957).
His stage work included productions with Katharine Hepburn in As You Like It and under the direction of Laurence Olivier in Venus Observed. On screen he is known for roles in Run Silent, Run Deep (1958), Marlowe (1969) and as Hoskyns in Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972). Television credits include David Ellington in the Twilight Zone episode "The Howling Man" (1960), multiple appearances on Perry Mason and Gunsmoke, and guest roles in series such as Mission: Impossible, Get Smart and The West Wing.
