Biography
Haji Anif is an Indonesian businessman and paramilitary figure based in Medan, North Sumatra. He appeared as himself, credited as Self - Paramilitary Leader and Businessman, in the documentary film The Act of Killing (2012), directed by Joshua Oppenheimer.
Born Musannif in Perdagangan, North Sumatra, to a Pashtun father from Afghanistan and a Sumatran mother, Anif built a career in various enterprises including automotive repair, contracting, real estate, palm oil plantations and the birds’ nest trade. A biography of his life, Hidup Ikhlas Tanpa Muslihat, was published in 2017.
