Biography
Hal Lieberman is an American film producer and former president of production at Universal Pictures.
He began his career as a production assistant on Warren Beatty's Heaven Can Wait (1978) and worked as a screenwriter for eight years. He later joined Blum/Ganz Productions and moved to Universal Pictures in 1987, rising to president of production in 1994. In that role he oversaw development on films including Apollo 13, The Nutty Professor, Liar Liar, Fried Green Tomatoes and Happy Gilmore.
As a producer his credits include Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), Around the World in 80 Days (2004), Bridge to Terabithia (2007), Vacancy (2007), Vacancy 2: The First Cut (2008) and House at the End of the Street (2012). He served as executive producer on The Jackal (1997) and U-571 (2000). He was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2008.
