Biography
Hans Prescher was a German producer and production manager. He was born on 22 March 1930 in Groß Moitzow, Pomerania, and died on 15 March 2020 in Munich. After studying literature, art history, theatre and journalism, and completing a doctorate on Kurt Tucholsky, he joined Hessischer Rundfunk (HR) in 1956 as an editor.
Prescher became head of the television drama department at HR in 1967. He produced Werner Herzog's Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972). His other film credits include The Tin Drum (1979), Circle of Deceit (1981), The White Rose (1982) and La femme de ma vie (1986). He also worked as a production manager on several projects.
Prescher was a co-founder of the long-running German television crime series Tatort. He retired from HR in 1994.
