Biography
Harry Earles, also known as Kurt Schneider and Harry Doll, was a German-American actor and circus performer. Born in Stolpen, Germany, he emigrated to the United States around 1915 with his sister Frieda (later Grace Earles). He and his siblings, who performed as the Doll Family, worked in circuses including Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey while making occasional film appearances.
Earles is best known for playing Hans in Freaks (1932), opposite his sister Daisy Earles as Frieda. His other credits include Tweedledee in The Unholy Three (1925) and an uncredited Lollipop Guild Member in The Wizard of Oz (1939). The family largely left film work in the early 1930s to focus on circus performances until the mid-1950s, with only sporadic later screen roles.
