Biography
Harry Glicken (1958–1991) was an American volcanologist. He studied volcanic debris avalanches and conducted extensive research on Mount St Helens in Washington before and after its 1980 eruption.
Glicken died on 3 June 1991 in a pyroclastic flow during the eruption of Mount Unzen in Japan, alongside French volcanologists Katia and Maurice Krafft. Archive footage of him appears in the 2022 documentary Fire of Love.
