Biography
Harry Gulkin (1927–2018) was a Canadian film producer and theatre director. Born in Montreal to Russian immigrants, he produced several films adapting Canadian literature, including Lies My Father Told Me (1975), Two Solitudes (1978) and Bayo (1985).
He served as executive and artistic director of the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts in Montreal from 1983 to 1987, and later worked as an analyst for a Quebec film funding agency. In 2008 he received a special Genie Award for his contributions to Canadian cinema. Gulkin appeared as a storyteller in Sarah Polley's documentary Stories We Tell (2012).
