Biography
Harry Marker (born William Harry Marker Jr.) was an American film editor. He entered the industry at the age of 17, editing the 1918 silent film Selfish Yates, and went on to work on more than 100 films and television productions over a career spanning 1920 to 1964. He held long studio positions at Universal Pictures (1927–1935) and RKO Radio Pictures (1937–1954).
Marker is credited as editor on films including The Last of the Mohicans (1936), Stranger on the Third Floor (1940), Five Came Back (1939), The Bells of St. Mary's (1945), The Spiral Staircase (1946), The Farmer's Daughter (1947), Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948) and Holiday Affair (1949). He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Film Editing for The Bells of St. Mary's. In later years he edited episodes of television series such as Wanted: Dead or Alive and The Rifleman.
