Biography
Hartley Power (14 March 1894 – 29 January 1966) was an American-born British actor. Born in New York City, he began his career on the Broadway stage, making his debut in the 1922 production Dolly Jordan before moving to Britain and appearing in films from 1931.
Power appeared in over 30 film and television productions until his retirement in 1957. He is best remembered for his roles as the ventriloquist Sylvester Kee in Dead of Night (1945) and as Mr. Hennessy, the newspaper editor, in Roman Holiday (1953). Other notable credits include The Million Pound Note (1954) and Island in the Sun (1957). He was married to the actress Betty Paul from 1945 to 1955.
