Biography
Harvey Frand (1940–2009) was an American television producer and production manager. He studied political science at the University of Pittsburgh and began his career at NBC News before working as an executive at Warner Bros., where he oversaw production on the series Harry O (1973). He later moved into producing, with early credits including The Devlin Connection (1982), The Twilight Zone (1985) and Beauty and the Beast (1987).
Frand joined the reimagined Battlestar Galactica as a producer on the 2003 miniseries and continued in that role through the series (2004–2009), becoming supervising producer from season three. He also produced related projects including Battlestar Galactica: Razor (2007) and Battlestar Galactica: The Plan (2009). For his work on the series he shared a Peabody Award in 2005, received AFI recognition and won a Primetime Emmy in 2008. He produced more than twenty pilots and television movies, and the 1974–75 Broadway revival of Sweet Bird of Youth.
