Biography
Heather Menzies, also credited as Heather Menzies-Urich, was a Canadian actress. Born in Toronto on 3 December 1949, she began her career with a television appearance in The Farmer's Daughter in 1964. At the age of 14 she was cast as Louisa von Trapp in the film The Sound of Music (1965), in which she performed songs including "So Long, Farewell" and "The Lonely Goatherd".
Menzies appeared in films such as Hawaii (1966), Sssssss (1973) and Piranha (1978), and starred as Jessica 6 in the television series Logan's Run (1977). She made guest appearances in series including Bonanza, The Bob Newhart Show, T. J. Hooker and The Love Boat. In 1973 she posed for a pictorial in Playboy magazine.
She married actor and producer Robert Urich in 1975; the couple adopted three children. Following Urich's death in 2002, Menzies established the Robert Urich Foundation to support cancer research. She died on 24 December 2017.
