Biography

Heike Parplies is a German film editor. Born in 1971 in Antwerpen, Belgium, she studied media studies in Marburg and began working in film editing in 1999, initially as an assistant editor.

Her first credit as editor was on The Forest for the Trees (2003). She has collaborated repeatedly with director Maren Ade, editing Everyone Else (2009) and Toni Erdmann (2016). Other notable credits include Invisible Life (2019), Kiss Me Kosher! (2020) and Firebrand (2023).

Parplies received the German Film Award for Best Editing for Toni Erdmann in 2017, as well as the Film+ award for the same film. She is a member of the Deutsche Filmakademie and was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2022.
