Biography
Helena Carroll (1928–2013) was a Scottish actress of stage, film and television. Born in Glasgow, she was the daughter of Irish playwright Paul Vincent Carroll. She trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and moved to the United States in the 1940s, where she co-founded the Irish Players repertory company in New York with Dermot McNamara.
Carroll appeared on Broadway and in West End productions. She later worked extensively in Los Angeles, with film roles including Hester in The Jerk (1979) and Aunt Kate in The Dead (1987). Her television credits include episodes of Murder, She Wrote, WKRP in Cincinnati and Touched by an Angel.
