Biography

Héléna Pikon is a French dancer and performer. Born in Suresnes in 1956, she began collaborating with choreographer Pina Bausch in 1977 and joined Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch as a permanent member in 1982, remaining until 2022.

She appeared in 33 of Bausch’s pieces and took part in the creation of 18 of them. Pikon featured as herself in the 2011 documentary Pina directed by Wim Wenders, and earlier in Bausch’s own Die Klage der Kaiserin (1989). After Bausch’s death in 2009 she assumed several of the choreographer’s signature roles, including in Café Müller. She has also worked as a répétiteur and continues to perform and direct freelance.
