Biography
Helena Rojo was a Mexican actress. Born María Elena Enríquez Ruiz in Mexico City on 18 August 1944, she began her career as a model in the early 1960s before studying drama with Carlos Ancira and José Luis Ibáñez. She made her film debut in 1968.
Rojo worked with Mexican directors including Arturo Ripstein, Felipe Cazals and Jorge Fons, and appeared internationally as Inés de Atienza in Werner Herzog's Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972). Her television roles included Luciana Hernández de Duval in the telenovela El Privilegio de Amar (1998). She won two Ariel Awards for her film performances.
She died in Mexico City on 3 February 2024.
