Biography
Henri Rust (also credited as Han Rust or Henry Rust) was a Dutch-born film editor who worked primarily in France. Born Han Rust on 10 August 1906 in Laren, Noord-Holland, he began his career in 1931 as editor of the French-language version of The Threepenny Opera, directed by G. W. Pabst.
He collaborated frequently with director Marcel Carné, editing Les Visiteurs du soir (1942), Children of Paradise (1945), Thérèse Raquin (1953) and Les Assassins de l'ordre (1971). Other notable credits include Mayerling (1936), The Wages of Fear (1953), Gervaise (1956) and Germinal (1963). Rust worked across several countries and remained active until 1977; he died on 2 May 1996 in Paris.
