Biography

Herbert J. Wright was an American television writer, producer and director. He wrote or co-wrote four episodes of the series Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), including the teleplays for "The Last Outpost" and "The Battle", the story for "Heart of Glory", and the teleplay for "Power Play". He served as co-producer on the first season and as producer on several fifth-season episodes.

Wright also wrote episodes of Hunter (1984) and other series including War of the Worlds (1988), Stingray (1986) and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs (1993). He graduated with honours from Yale in 1969 and had earlier studied in Japan as an exchange student. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award.
