Biography

Hideo Yamamoto is a Japanese cinematographer. He was born in 1960 in Gifu, Japan.

Yamamoto has worked as director of photography on numerous films, including Fireworks (1997), Audition (1999), Ichi the Killer (2001), The Grudge (2004) and Why Don't You Play in Hell? (2013). He has frequently collaborated with director Takashi Miike.

His work on Fireworks earned him the Silver Frog award at the Camerimage festival and recognition at the Mainichi Film Concours. He has also received Yokohama Film Festival awards for best cinematography.
