Biography

Hiromi Kamata is a Mexican-Japanese director and assistant director. She was born in Mexico City and has worked in film and television for over twenty years on productions filmed in the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan and Mexico.

She has directed episodes of the series Shōgun (2024), Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024), Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (2023–2026), Let the Right One In (2022) and Selena: The Series (2020). Earlier credits include first or second assistant director roles on Tigers Are Not Afraid (2017), Nimic (2020) and The Air I Breathe (2007). She received a Directors Guild of America nomination for her work on Shōgun.
