Biography

Hiroshi Mikami is a Japanese actor born on 23 July 1962 in Tokyo. He began acting in the late 1970s and made his screen debut in Grass Labyrinth (1979), directed by Shūji Terayama.

Mikami appeared as a Japanese soldier in Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983) and as Cadet #1 in Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985). He is also known for roles in Tokyo Decadence (1992), Swallowtail Butterfly (1996), Parasite Eve (1997) and Premonition (2004). He has worked extensively in television and on stage, including the title role in the Japanese production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2004). Mikami comes from a family with connections to the entertainment industry; his mother was an actress and his uncle a film producer.
